Coconut–Lime Pendant

Brazil Collection

  • Inspiration: Coconut & lime

  • Materials: Gold, matte white enamel, lime-green gemstone

  • Craft Detail: Organic teardrop form, smooth enamel finish

  • Region: Coastal Brazil

  • Dish Profile: Fresh, creamy, citrus-bright

This piece is inspired by classic Brazilian combinations of coconut and lime, often found in coastal desserts, drinks, and confectionery. Coconut offers a soft, creamy flavor and a naturally matte white appearance, while lime contributes a sharp, bright acidity and vivid green color. These contrasting characteristics informed the jewellery design: the matte coconut-white enamel reflects the smooth texture of fresh coconut pulp, and the lime-green gemstone mirrors the clarity and brightness of squeezed lime. The teardrop-shaped form follows the natural, rounded contours common in Brazilian culinary and craft aesthetics. A simple regional detail: in many coastal areas, coconuts are grated fresh each morning, with lime added immediately to maintain its aroma and color.

Mei and Benjamin first encountered this coconut–lime pairing at a small beachside market stall where a vendor prepared a chilled coconut dessert topped with freshly grated lime zest. Benjamin noted the clean contrast between the matte coconut base and the glossy, green citrus. Mei observed the stall’s use of simple, curved wooden molds, which later informed the pendant’s rounded, organic silhouette. That afternoon, they sketched together at a nearby café, matching enamel samples to coconut tones and testing gemstone cuts that reflected the sharp clarity of lime.

During one visit, a vendor showed Mei and Benjamin how to zest a lime using a small, worn metal tool passed down in the family, creating thin, even strips. On another morning, they accidentally purchased a local lime variety with a stronger aroma, which became their reference color when selecting the final gemstone.
