Pebre Bracelet

Chile Collection

  • Inspiration: Pebre

  • Materials: Gold, green gemstones, red enamel

  • Craft Detail: Finely textured metal surface

  • Region: Central Chile

  • Dish Profile: Savory, fresh, herb-based

This bracelet is inspired by pebre, a traditional Chilean sauce made from finely chopped cilantro, onion, chili, oil, and vinegar. Pebre is known for its vivid green color, sharp red accents, and coarse, chopped texture. These elements informed the jewellery design directly: green gemstones reference fresh herbs, red enamel details reflect chili, and the textured gold surface mirrors the finely cut ingredients. Pebre is typically prepared by hand and served fresh as a table condiment, a detail that guided the bracelet’s emphasis on visible texture and contrast.

Raj and Clara encountered pebre during a home-cooked meal while staying in Santiago. They observed the preparation process, noting how ingredients are chopped finely but unevenly to preserve texture. Clara focused on the cultural role of pebre as an everyday accompaniment, while Raj studied the visual rhythm created by repeated green and red elements. These observations were translated into jewellery through repetitive stone placement, enamel accents, and controlled metal texturing based on sketches made during the visit.

During one meal, the cook explained that pebre is always prepared fresh and never stored, reinforcing the importance of texture and color clarity. Raj later noticed similar surface textures in hand-hammered utensils used in the kitchen.
