Beef Noodle Soup Bracelet

Taiwan Collection

  • Inspiration: Taiwanese beef noodle soup

  • Materials: Gold, brown gemstones, green gemstones

  • Craft Detail: Curved noodle-like bands, polished surfaces

  • Region: Northern Taiwan

  • Dish Profile: Savory, broth-based

This bracelet is inspired by Taiwanese beef noodle soup, a dish known for its rich dark broth, long wheat noodles, and fresh green scallions. The soup is valued for its depth of flavor and visual contrast between broth, noodles, and garnishes. These elements shaped the jewellery design directly: broth-brown gemstones reference the soup base, curved gold elements mirror the movement of noodles, and jade-green accents reflect scallions. Beef noodle soup is typically prepared by slow-simmering beef and spices, resulting in a concentrated color and texture that informed the bracelet’s bold material palette.

Aisha and Cate encountered beef noodle soup at a family-run noodle shop in Taipei. They observed how noodles are stretched and folded repeatedly to achieve elasticity and how garnishes are added last for contrast. Cate focused on the rhythm of the noodle forms, while Aisha noted the strong color separation in the bowl. These observations were translated into jewellery through repeating curved gold bands, gemstone selection, and spacing studies developed through sketches.

During one visit, the cook demonstrated how broth clarity changes depending on simmer time. Cate later referenced this gradual transformation when refining the bracelet’s surface finish.
